Dedicated to improving its surrounding community and empowering its employees to positively impact their communities as well, the Hubert Company sponsors numerous charitable causes in an effort to promote giving back and making a difference. Hubert Company President, Bart Kohler, is a personal champion of the St. Vincent DePaul organization, and encourages each of his employees to find a group or cause close to their own hearts to support. This company-wide desire to “do good” led to the creation of Hubert’s Volunteer Leadership Committee, or VLC, which will be celebrating its 10th Anniversary in 2012.
The Hubert VLC is comprised of a group of Hubert employees who have taken on the task of awakening the spirit of giving among their co-workers. By organizing fundraising events and exposing the Hubert staff to different charitable organizations, VLC members actively encourage Hubert’s 300+ employees to find new ways to utilize the 8 hours of Individual Volunteer Time that the company allots for community outreach activities.
“What we try to do is initiate a ripple effect,” VLC member Pamela Bush explains. “We ignite the spark that encourages employees to become more involved on their own. So far, it’s worked really well.”
Over the years, Hubert employees have participated in the local Relay for Life, served meals at the Ronald McDonald House, found loving homes for adoptable pets, donated blood to the Hoxworth Center, sponsored Christmas families for the holidays, and helped neighbors clean their yards with People Working Cooperatively (PWC). Every year, the VLC receives suggestions for new ways that the Hubert Company can help its employees to give back, and each year, those employees step up to the challenge.
The Hubert Company is extremely proud of the Volunteer Leadership Committee and all that it has achieved in the past ten years. We look forward to another 10+ years of improving our communities, supporting worthy causes, and giving back to our neighbors and friends in a meaningful way.
