On Friday, March 18, 2012, at it’s Harrison, Ohio headquarters, The Hubert Company held a ceremony to celebrate the opening of one the largest solar power installations in the state of Ohio. It is estimated that over 100 people were in attendance to witness the ceremonial “plugging in” of Hubert’s newest eco-friendly addition.
Speakers at the ceremony included Hubert’s President and CEO, Bart Kohler, local State House Representatives, and Ohio EPA’s Southwest District Chief, Bonnie Buthker.
Since construction began last winter, the system that is expected to generate over 1 million kilowatt hours per year has been featured in The cincinnati Enquirer, Green Energy Ohio, The Business Courier, The Dayton Daily News, and in several local television highlights.
Hubert maintains a comprehensive sustainability program including the use of flourescent lighting throughout it’s 500,000 square foot warehouse, recycling more than 140 tons of corrugated cardboard and 22 tons of shrink film per year, and using only 100% recyclable shipping cartons. At The Hubert Company, we take corporate responsibility very seriously; we conduct ourselves in a manner that respects our customers, vendors, employees, and the environment. The addition of our solar roof is just one more way that Hubert can improve it’s community and be a responsible corporate neighbor.
